Good afternoon, everyone! Standing here, I’m very happy and excited. It’s my great honor to be here to present my lesson. I’ll try my best. Now I will say the first lesson: Story time of Unit 2 in 4B Yi Lin Primary School English. It’s made up of 7parts.

Well, firstly, I’ll talk about part 1 analysis of the teaching material.
1.The analysis of the teaching material.
Students in Grade4 use the new English teaching material which is more closed to Ss’ daily life. And Unit2 After school relates to the real situation about the students. The structures are useful and the topic is interested by the students.
Secondly, I’ll talk about next part analysis of the students.
2. The analysis of the students
The students have learned new English teaching material for one year and this new series of English teaching material is familiar for them. So what I need to pay more attention is to design some interesting games or unusual parts to attract students. Help students feel excited and willing to speak English, not talk with others.
Thirdly , I’ll talk about teaching aims. There are knowledge aims, ability aims and emotional aims. The aims to the knowledge are to enable the Ss to read, spell the new words and understand the meaning of the new words “today Monday Wednesday Saturday”; to help the Ss learn the new pattern: What day is it today? It’s… I have… He/ She has… We don’t have… What a pity! All right; and to enable the Ss to communicate with the others using new pattern. The aims to the abilities are to improve the Ss’ ability of listening and speaking and to encourage the Ss to communicate with the others actively. The aims to the emotion of this lesson is to educate the Ss to be polite and helpful to the others. The key points of this unit are to enable the Ss master the new words and key sentence structures; to enable the Ss study in groups and co-operate with the others; to arouse the Ss’ interest in English. The difficult point is to use the third person singular form correctly.
Then, I’ll talk about teaching methods. As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate pupils’ basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson I’ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, I will let the Ss learn in real situations. And also I will arrange four kinds of activities: singing, playing games, acting and having a competition.
Next is the teaching aids. In this lesson, the CAI, some pictures and some word cards will be used.
Now let’s move on the most important part teaching procedure. It consists of 5 steps. Warming up, presentation, practice, consolidation and homework
Step1 Warming up (5mins)
Firstly, after greeting with the Ss, I’ll begin the lesson by saying the rhyme “Subjects” together with the Ss. This rhyme is from unit1.
Secondly, we can play a game called fast response. When Ss see the words or phrases, then read; When Ss see the picture, they clap their hands.
Thirdly, I’ll have a free talk with my Ss. I’ll ask them some questions like: What do you have? What do you like? What subjects do you have? What subjects do you like?
The purpose is to arouse the Ss’ interest of study and to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss. At the same time, if provides situations to review the learned knowledge.
Step2 Presentation (15mins)
Firstly, I’ll teach the new words “Monday” “today” and the sentence structure “What day is it today?” “It’s…” I’ll show a timetable on the screen and point to “Monday” to ask “What day is it today?” At the same time, these sentence structures and the Chinese meaning will show by the PPT. If someone answered correctly, I’ll give a litter star to him, then teach the pronunciation of the new word and the sentence. Make sure everyone can read them correctly. After that I’ll show some words like “monkey, today, Monday” in order to encourage the Ss to read the new word by themselves. Then, I’ll write the new words and sentences on the Bb. Guide the Ss work in pairs to practice it. At last, I’ll show the learning tips: The abbreviation of “Monday” is the first three capital letters.
Secondly, we’ll talk about the timetable. I’ll ask some questions like “What lessons do we have on Monday?” “Do you have Music lesson this afternoon?” When I point to the below of the timetable the title “After school” will show on the PPT. I’ll write the title on the Bb and teach the pronunciation.
Thirdly, I’ll design three tasks to learn the story time.
Task1: Watch and answer. I’ll show a picture of Story time. Ask them who he is. Before watching the cartoon, I’ll let Ss read the following questions “What would Liu Tao like to do?” “What day is it today?” “Can Liu Tao play table tennis with his friends today?” When the Ss answer the second question, I’ll teach the new word “Wednesday” and write down on the Bb. Also, I’ll show the learning tips the abbreviation of “Wednesday” is the first three capital letters. When Ss answer the third Q, I’ll teach the new word “Saturday”. I’ll encourage the Ss to read the new word by themselves according to the learned words “cat, nurse and Monday”. Purpose: This task is to make the pupils get the general idea of the dialogue as a whole one by answering the Qs. At the same time, let the pupils have a chance to practice their listening ability.
Task2: Read and Match.
Firstly, I’ll teach the new word “match” and the new phrase “have a football match”. After that, I’ll guide the Ss to make a new phrase by using the word “match”.
Secondly, I’ll teach the new word “swimming” and the phrase “a swimming lesson”. Explain that the verb can become a noun when changing its form. And also, let Ss make a new phrase like “a skating lesson”.
Thirdly, I’ll circle the three letters “has” on the screen and turn the colour into red by CAI in order to remind the Ss of finding out the regular the third person singular form “have” will become “has”.
Purpose: As we all know, children’s attention span is very short, so proper exercise can help pupils focus on their attention and learn the target language better.
Task3: Read the text.
Firstly, read after the CD by the pictures. When read the third picture. I’ll show the words “pig, ninety and pity” to teach the new word “pity”.
Secondly, I’ll let Ss choose one of the ways to read Story time. They can read in roles, read after one or read together.
The purpose of this step is to pay more attention on their pronunciation and intonation. CAI can provide a real situation for the Ss to understand the dialogue and the relationships between people better.
Step3 Practice (10mins)
It’ll cost 10mins, including three activities.
A1: magic eyes. It can help the Ss to recognize and read the new words and sentences. In my opinion, maybe the Ss will fell a little bored. The game can attract their attention. The purpose of this is to stimulate the Ss’ interest of learning English and help them consolidate the target language in very comfortable atmosphere.
A2: Dub for the cartoon. Ss will dub the cartoon in groups of three. After group word, I’ll ask some groups to show their word in front of the class.
Task-based teaching method and communicative language teaching are used here. The purpose of this is to develop the Ss ability of communication, and also their ability of cooperation will be well developed.
A3: Say a chant. It’s a good way to arouse the Ss’ interesting and consolidate the knowledge. I’ll say the rhyme for the Ss first. It’ll like this. Let’s play football on Monday. Let’s play basketball on Wednesday. Let’s play table tennis on Saturday.
After that, I’ll let the Ss try to read this rhyme and make a new rhyme. Purpose:
Step4 Consolidation (10mins)
Firstly, to develop pupils’ abilities of listening and speaking, that’s the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school. So in step 4, I’ll design some listening exercises to check what they have learned. For example: Think and fill in the blanks. Everyone will have a piece of paper. In this step I’ll give the pupils a free space to show their abilities. I’ll give three stars for the Ss can finish this task correctly and quickly.
Secondly, I’ll divide the Ss into groups of four. Each group will adapt the Story time and make a presentation. Of course, the group can get five stars, if they can perform well.
Purpose: As the principle that children should be given more opportunities to use the similar language again and again. This step can enhance the Ss’ ability to communicate and cooperate with others.
Step5 Homework
After step 4, some pupils can grasp the knowledge well, but some pupils can’t. Revision is so important that pupils should speak English after class as much as they do in class. It is necessary for the pupils to do some exercise after class. So I design the following homework.
1.Listen and read the Story time.
2.Copy the new words four times.
3.Make a dialogue with your partners.

At last, this is my layout design.
Here, in the middle of the blackboard is the sentence pattern and the word bank, so the Ss can know the key points. Also, at the right side of the blackboard are the group and their names and also their reward. By this way the Ss can know whether they are performing well and this can encourage them to be active in their class.
